Coachella Valley sees wet roads and concerns of flooding as storm moves through region
Flooding concerns are on many drivers' minds as the rain continues to pour this First Alert Weather Alert Day.
The valley has seen rainfall on Thursday throughout the morning and midday hours.
Our First Alert Weather Alert team has shared a that flood watch is in place until Friday morning. That watch may come with some potential closures.
We had the chance to speak to some delivery drivers who shared their top safety tips that help them navigate wet and slick roads.
"You got to take your time and don't be rushing through the road because it is a little dangerous. You can see five feet, maybe a little further because the truck in front has all the water coming at you. So just take your time, and get there when you get there," said Desert Hot Springs resident, Julio Cisneros.
"It's not a race in this rain right here. You can hurt yourself and hurt somebody else too. We all got somebody that loves us, that we want to get home to," said delivery driver, Robert Towner.
Some other tips to help you while you’re out on the roads is to pay attention to signage and road blockades. They are there for a reason, whether it's to help you stay out of a flooded area or a potentially dangerous zone.
If you’re planning on heading out give yourself some extra time for your commute.
To avoid hydroplaning, try to avoid sharp turns, along with slowing down or stopping suddenly.
We are expecting rain until next week, that will continue to bring similar conditions to our roads.
