James Dockery steps down as head football coach at Xavier Prep after nine seasons

KESQ

PALM DESERT, Calif. (KESQ) -- James Dockery is no longer the head football coach at Xavier Prep.

Xavier Prep Athletic Director Andrew Clark told News Channel that Dockery is "stepping away from football."

The 37-year-old Dockery was hired in 2017. His overall record in nine seasons with the Saints was 44-38 with two ties.

A graduate of Palm Desert high school in 2006, Dockery played his college football at Oregon State, before making it in the NFL.

He was signed in 2011 by the Cleveland Browns as an un-drafted free agent. He then played three seasons with the Carolina Panthers. Dockery signed with the Raiders in 2015 but never played a game, ending his NFL career.

Xavier Prep missed the playoffs this year after finishing 6-4 overall, 2-3 in the DEL.
