Gene Autry open at wash, Indian Canyon still closed

Update (01/04/26)

The Palm Springs Police Department alerted drivers Sunday morning that Gene Autry Trail is now open at the wash.

Original Report:

PALM SPRINGS, Calif. (KESQ) –  Palm Springs city work crews were out in the flooded washes Friday, clearing water, mud and debris from the closed roadways.

Just after 2:00 Friday afternoon PSPD notified drivers that Vista Chino is now open at the wash. Gene Autry Trail and Indian Canyon remain closed at the wash. Araby Drive near Highway 111 was closed as well but also reopened Friday afternoon.

On Thursday, Palm Springs Rescue crews were called out to Indian Canyon just before 11:30am, as a driver became trapped by rising flood waters.

Crews were able to rescue the driver from an area that had recently been closed down due to the flooding.

In Desert Hot Springs, Little Morongo Road is closed between Two Bunch Palms Trail and Dillon Road also due to flooding at the wash.

There are also several reports of many other flooded intersections across the valley. Be sure to allow for extra time as roadways that are open will be extra busy.

Check back for updates as rain is expected to continue throughout the weekend.
