LA QUINTA, Calif. (KESQ) - A fire broke out today at a residence in La Quinta that displaced two adults.

The non-injury blaze was reported shortly before 10:40 a.m. Wednesday in the 80300 block of Torreon Way, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.

The agency said crews encountered heavy fire coming from the garage and a second alarm response was requested.

It was contained at 11:53 a.m., and significant damage was reported to the structure.

The Red Cross was requested to assist the displaced residents, but they declined assistance, officials said.

Crews were expected to remain at the scene for an additional two hours for heavy salvage and overhaul.

The cause of the fire was under investigation.
