Palm Springs vigil calls for peace as war involving Iran continues

PALM SPRINGS, Calif. (KESQ)  - Activists said a weekly peace vigil in downtown Palm Springs took on added significance Thursday as community members gathered to call for an end to war amid the ongoing conflict involving Iran.

Dozens of people lined a stretch near Museum Way and Belardo Road — near the Marilyn Monroe statue — holding candles, flowers and photos of those killed during conflicts as part of a “No More War” vigil organized by Code Pink Coachella Valley.

The group has held the event weekly, but attendees said the continued violence overseas brought renewed urgency to their message.

People passing by slowed to watch, some stopping to ask questions or engage with demonstrators.

Reactions were mixed, reflecting a range of views within the community about the conflict and the U.S. role in it.
