Cathedral City wants residents to complete survey for next police chief

KESQ

CATHEDRAL CITY, Calif. (KESQ) - Cathedral City residents were encouraged today to participate in a brief online survey to help the city find the next police chief following the retirement of Police Chief George Crum on Dec. 18.

City officials are seeking public input on desired characteristics and qualities for the role, including "transparent and forward-thinking leadership, strong communication and interpersonal skills, a track record of accountability, cultural sensitivity and strategic thinking and experience managing complex public safety operations."

Deputy Chief Rick Sanchez was named acting chief after Crum's retirement.

The position leads a department of more than 80 sworn and professional staff members in overseeing a community of more than 52,000 residents.

The deadline to complete the online survey is April 20, and it can be found at https://form.jotform.com/cathedralcity/cc-police-chief-community.
