Injured hiker rescued from remote area in Indio

INDIO (CNS) - An injured hiker who sustained moderate injuries was rescued today from a remote area in Indio.

The rescue was reported at 8:15 a.m. Thursday in the northeastern part of the city, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.

The agency stated that arriving crews made contact with the hiker and flew the individual to a ground ambulance, where the hiker was taken to a local hospital. A description of the person was not provided.

The cause of the injuries was not immediately known.
