Injured hiker rescued from remote area in Indio

INDIO (CNS) - An injured hiker who suffered moderate injuries was rescued Thursday morning from a remote area in Indio.

The rescue was reported at 8:15 a.m. in the northeastern part of the city, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.

The agency stated that arriving crews made contact with the hiker and flew the individual to a ground ambulance, where the hiker was taken to a local hospital. A description of the person was not provided.

The cause of the injuries was not immediately known.
