Driver killed in fiery single-vehicle crash in Indian Wells

INDIAN WELLS, Calif. (KESQ) — A driver was killed early Friday morning after a single-vehicle crash on Highway 111 in Indian Wells, according to the Riverside County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies were dispatched around 2:05 a.m. to the area of Highway 111 and Desert Horizons Drive for reports of a traffic collision.

When deputies arrived, they found a vehicle fully engulfed in flames. Cal Fire crews responded and extinguished the fire.

The driver, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation. No further details have been released.

Road closures

Several roads are closed during the investigation, including:

• Westbound Highway 111 at El Dorado
• Highway 111 at Rancho Palmeros
• Highway 111 at Cook Street
• Eastbound Province Way

Drivers should avoid the area and use alternate routes.
