How locals and festivalgoers are preparing for a rainy weekend

THOUSAND PALMS, Calif. (KESQ) — Tropical Storm Rachel is expected to reach the Coachella Valley early Sunday morning, around 5 a.m.

The storm is forecast to bring 0.5 to 1.5 inches of rain to cities across the valley and the National Weather Service has issued a flood advisory.

Rain will be accompanied by strong wind gusts exceeding 50 mph in some areas, including La Quinta, near the polo fields where Headtrip will take place.

Today, News Channel 3 is speaking with residents and festivalgoers to learn how they have already been affected by the storm and what they are doing to prepare.
