Weather Alert Weekend: Tracking Rain and Wind in the Coachella Valley

THOUSAND PALMS, Calif. (KESQ) — UPDATE: Parts of the Coachella Valley have already begun to see some rain. This initial wave of rain will remain spotty through the evening, as forecasts continue to show more robust and widespread rain coming overnight.

Tropical Storm Rachel continues to head toward the Coachella Valley with its initial chance for rain will be later this afternoon.

The storm also is affecting our highs. Today, we will be in the mid- to upper 90s, but tomorrow, expect drastic cooling, with highs in the 70s alongside stormlike conditions.

The most rain is expected to come early Sunday morning. Models are forecasting up to 1.5 inches in parts of the valley.

Winds will also pick up, with a wind advisory in place just east of the Coachella Valley.

Wind Advisory

The cooler temperatures won't stick around too long, as we see gradual warming back to the upper 80s to lower 90s by the middle of next week.
