One year later: Is Amazon delivering on its promises to Desert Hot Springs?

DESERT HOT SPRINGS, Calif. (KESQ) - One year after Amazon opened its massive PSP3 warehouse in Desert Hot Springs, News Channel 3 is taking a closer look at whether the facility is delivering on its promises of jobs and economic growth.

When the facility first opened, officials projected it could bring more than 2,000 jobs to the area, creating new employment opportunities for Coachella Valley residents.

Now, Amazon says 51 employees have earned promotions, moving from entry-level positions into management and leadership roles.

But how many people are actually working at the facility today? Are employees earning enough to build long-term careers? And is the surrounding community seeing the economic benefits city leaders originally anticipated?

News Channel 3's Raymond Kalra is speaking with Amazon leadership, employees, city officials and people in the surrounding community to examine the facility's impact one year later.

Watch Raymond's full report tonight at 6 p.m. on News Channel 3, where he'll take a closer look at whether Amazon's promises are becoming a reality for Desert Hot Springs.
