ANAHEIM, Calif. (KESQ) - Eight Anaheim High School track athletes were injured today when a car swerved off onto a sidewalk and struck them at an Anaheim intersection.
The students were waiting on the southwest corner of North Harbor Boulevard and North Street for the light to change and continue their run at about 2:55 p.m. when the driver swerved off the road and struck them, according to Anaheim police Sgt. Matt Sutter.
Eight students were taken to a hospital with varying degrees of injuries, Sutter said. The driver was a 27-year-old man from Anaheim who was suspected of driving under the influence, but had not been arrested as of late Wednesday afternoon, Sutter said.
