Section of Avenue 50 shuts down ahead of Coachella, Stagecoach festivals

INDIO, Calif. (KESQ) - A portion of Avenue 50 in Indio was shut down today for six weeks.
The closure started at 6 a.m. Monday between Madison Street and Monroe Street and is expected to last through May 4.
Although officials did not officially give a reason, a similar the same (or similar) stretch of road was restricted around this time in previous years to allow infrastructure to be set up and taken down for the Coachella Valley Music & Arts and Stagecoach Festivals.
City officials advised drivers to exercise caution while traveling near the area or use alternate routes.
