Coachella holds annual Christmas tree lighting ceremony

Coachella formally kicked off the holiday season Wednesday with its annual Christmas Tree Lighting event in front of City Hall.

The tree right is the main attraction. The hundreds of colorful lights adorning it were lit brightening up downtown Coachella.

Dozens of community members showed up to the annual holiday tradition.

The Coachella Valley High School choir kicked things off by singing Christmas Carols. It was then followed by a performance of young ballet dancers from the Desert Recreation District as well as a mariachi.

The council also recognized five key residents as Hometown Heroes.

The city will host its holiday parade on Friday.
