Gene Autry Trail back open in Palm Springs after being closed because of visibility issues

UPDATE: Gene Autry Trail is now open through the Whitewater Wash. The road was reopened shortly after 8:30 a.m. Friday.

The Palm Springs Police Department closed Gene Autry Trail between E Via Escuela and Salvia Road through the Whitewater wash Friday morning.

Officials say that there is poor visibility on the road there.

As of 5 a.m. Friday morning, Indian Canyon Drive, Highway 111, Vista Chino Road, Ramon Road, and Dinah Shore Drive are your best alternate routes.
