Neighborhood Hero: Dustin Hay spreads joy and food at the FIND Food Bank

Dustin Hay commutes 45 minutes to FIND Food Bank's distribution center each morning and greets the day with a smile, unfailingly.

Just a few years ago, Hay first stepped foot into the distribution center as a volunteer.

After a few volunteer shifts packing and organizing food, Hay decided to become a full-time employee at FIND.

"Ever since then, it's been an enthusiastic ride of getting people fed," said Hay.

His hard work does not go unnoticed; that's why his coworkers nominated him as February's neighborhood hero.

"We have a lot of need within the community, and he's able to meet that need every day," said Lorena Marroquin, FIND’s VP of Community Impact.

The volunteers he works with also appreciate his positivity and passion for serving.

"Dustin is without a doubt the most positive individual I've ever met," said one volunteer, Karen Beck. "He's never in a bad mood; he's always very personable and friendly to everyone."

Hay believes that giving is a gift itself.

"Not only is it the act that we're doing, but it's the impact that shows in the volunteers," said Hay. "It's beautiful to see the gratitude daily."
