“We in it to win it,” Coachella Valley football centered on CIF-SS semifinals

CV football is on a historic run and has a chance to clinch its first-ever CIF-SS championship game with a win on Friday.

"It's been since 1965, I believe since we've made a run this deep in CV football. And yes, there's a lot of excitement. Yes, the community is excited," said head coach Bill Johnson. "I've got a lot of phone calls and teachers have said a lot of great positive things to me and to the students on campus."

Coachella Valley will hit the road again to face Cerritos in the D12 semifinals.

"Like I said before, I'm just feeling blessed. A wonderful feeling to be here, especially with my boys," said junior star running back Aaron Ramirez.

"We didn't join the tournament to stop at the semifinals. We in it to win it. So for us to do that we've got to be even more intense at practice, even more focused on where we want to do. Our laser focus is on Cerritos right now. This is a team that we have to go beat if we want to advance and that's our complete mentality."

Here is the slate of Semifinals games on Friday. Be sure to stay with News Channel 3 for continuing coverage of high school football.
