Rookie Davis Thompson leads Jon Rahm by two shots after two rounds at the American Express
PGA Tour rookie Davis Thompson has been dialed in.
After a 10-under 62 at La Quinta Country Club on Thursday, the PGA Tour rookie followed that up with an 8-under 64 on Friday, putting him at 18-under for the tournament.
Thompson's had a historic two rounds in the desert, making five eagles through 36 holes, which ties a PGA Tour record.
The 23-year-old, in just his 7th start on the PGA Tour, carries a two shot lead heading to the weekend.

However, red-hot Jon Rahm is right behind him in solo 2nd at 16-under par.
Rahm is coming off a win in Maui two weeks ago and has been playing high level golf to start the year. The World No. 4 and eight-time PGA TOUR winner, including 2021 U.S. Open and 2018 The American Express.
