Firebirds shutout Gulls 5-0 in fourth meeting this season

SAN DIEGO, Calif. (KESQ) - The Coachella Valley Firebirds shut out the San Diego Gulls 5-0 on Friday at Pechanga Arena.

In the first period, Lleyton Roed and Jagger Firkus got the party started to put the Firebirds in front 2-0.

The birds were nearly held scoreless in the middle frame, until Ben Meyers buried the third goal of the game with one minute and 32 seconds left in the second.

Meyers scored his second goal of the game, and Kaden Hammell finished the job to seal a 5-0 win.

Nikke Kokko started in net for CV and saved 31 shots on goal for his first shutout of the season.

Firebirds improve to a 9-5-3 record on the year. Coachella Valley will return home and play the Texas Stars on Saturday, November 29th. Puck drop is at 6 PM.
