Firebirds fall 5-4 in overtime to Condors on Teddy Bear Toss Night

THOUSAND PALMS, Calif. (KESQ) - The Coachella Valley Firebirds lost 5-4 to the Bakersfield Condors on their annual Teddy Bear Toss Night at Acrisure Arena.

The Firebirds wasted no time in the opening period. Oscar Fisker Molgaard scored the first goal to unleash the teddy bear toss only 2 minutes and 30 seconds in the first.

The Condors responded, scoring three unanswered goals to close out the opener.

The birds answered right back in the second period with two straight goals from Jagger Firkus and Eduard Sale.

Bakersfield opened the scoring in the third period to take the 4-3 lead, but it was Logan Morrison to save the day for Coachella Valley, lighting the lamp to send the game into overtime.

In the extra frame, Roby Jarventie buried the game-winner three minutes and 46 seconds to steal a win on the road for the Condors.

Nikke Kokko started in net for CV and saved 29 shots on goal.

The Firebirds fall to a 14-7-4 record on the season. Coachella Valley will head on the road and play the Bakersfield Condors on Saturday, December 20th. Puck drop is at 7 PM.
