Logan Morrison’s two-goal game lifts Firebirds over Gulls in 5-2 victory

THOUSAND PALMS, Calif. (KESQ) - The Coachella Valley Firebirds defeated the San Diego Gulls 5-2 on Friday at Pechanga Arena.

The Firebirds couldn't have asked for a better start. Logan Morrison scored twice in only 11:58 minutes in the first period for the 2-0 lead.

The Gulls scored two unanswered right back, but from then on, it was all birds.

Lleyton Roed buried the lone goal in the middle frame. Eduard Sale and John Hayden both found the back of the net to cap a 5-2 final.

Nikke Kokko started in net for CV and saved 25 shots on goal.

The Firebirds improve to a 16-10-4 record on the season. Coachella Valley will remain on the road and play the Ontario Reign on Saturday, January 3rd. Puck drop is at 6 PM.
