20-year-old amateur Nick Dunlap shoots 60 on Saturday, leads American Express by three shots

Nick Dunlap had quite the day in the third round of the American Express.

The 20-year-old fired a 12-under 60 at La Quinta Country Club, highlighted by 10 birdies and one eagle.

Playing as an amateur in the field, the Alabama sophomore made history with his impressive round.

Leading by three shots with PGA TOUR stars Sam Burns and Justin Thomas on his heels, Dunlap has the opportunity to make more history on Sunday.

If he wins the tournament, he would become the first amateur to win on the PGA TOUR since Phil Mickelson in 1991.

The final group on Sunday at the PGA WEST Stadium Course will showcase the Southeastern Conference with Dunlap (Alabama), Burns (LSU) and Thomas (Alabama).
