Firebirds extend winstreak to three with 3-2 shootout win over the Barracuda

The Coachella Valley Firebirds defeated the San Jose Barracuda 3-2 in a shootout win at Tech CU Arena in Bakersfield, Ca.

The Barracuda struck first in the first period, but Jimmy Schuldt got the scoring started for the Firebirds in the second.

In the third, Andrew Poturalski gave Coachella Valley a 2-1 lead, but San Jose tied it up shortly after.

Scoreless in overtime, Devin Shore became the hero for the Firebirds in the shootout as the only goal scorer. Coachella Valley set a new franchise record with 50 shots on goal.

Coachella Valley improves to 33-13-5 and extend its first place lead.

The Firebirds will remain on the road and play San Diego Gulls on Wednesday, March 6th. Puck drop is set at 7:00 p.m.
