MLB

TORONTO, ON (KESQ) - The Los Angeles Dodgers are back-to-back World Series Champions.

The Dodgers defeated the Toronto Blue Jays 5-4 after 11 innings in Game 7 of the World Series on Saturday at the Rogers Center.

In the second, Ernie Clement singled into right to set up a bases-loaded opportunity for Andres Gimenez. Shohei Ohtani came up big, striking out Gimenez to end the second at 0-0.

Blue Jays fans erupted in the next inning. Bo Bichette homered to center and drove in Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and George Springer for the 3-0 lead.

LA responded in the fourth. Teoscar Hernandez hit a sac fly to center, sending Will Smith home to trail 3-1.

In the sixth, the Dodgers went back to the small-ball game. Mookie Betts tagged from third base off of a Tommy Edman sac fly to center to cut the deficit to one.

Toronto quickly increased its lead back to two. In the bottom of the sixth, Clement scored from second off a double from Gimenez for the 4-2 lead.

Max Muncy gave the Dodgers life in the eighth, crushing a solo homer to right to make it a 4-3 ball game.

In the ninth, Miguel Rojas came up clutch and sent a homer to left to make the game even at four.

Still in the ninth, Yoshinobu Yamamoto came in to pitch and got out of a bases-loaded jam to send the game into extras.

It took extra innings for any team to get on the board. Smith hammered a solo shot to left to put the Dodgers in front 5-4.

Still in the 11th, Alejandro Kirk hit into a double play to end the ball game.

Shohei Ohtani started on the bump for LA and had three strikeouts in 2.1 innings pitched.

Pitcher Yoshinobu Yamamoto earned the World Series MVP. The 27-year-old went 3-0 and posted a 1.02 ERA throughout the series.

This is the Dodgers' ninth World Series title in franchise history.
