2026 American Express boasts strong field, headlined by World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler

LA QUINTA, Calif. (KESQ) -- The American Express golf tournament has finalized its field for the 2026 event tournament, which will feature 156 players.
Headlining the field is World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler, who returns to the Coachella Valley for the first time since 2024. The four-time major winner missed last year’s tournament due to injury.
In addition to Scheffler, 11 other players currently ranked among the top 25 in the Official World Golf Rankings (OWGR) will compete in this year's tournament. Those players include defending champion Sepp Straka (12), Russell Henley (5), Robert MacIntyre (7), Ben Griffin (8), Justin Rose (10), Harris English (11), Alex Noren (13), Ludvig Åberg (18), Matt Fitzpatrick (21), Sam Burns (24), and Patrick Cantlay (25).
“The world’s best golfer, a dozen top 25 players, numerous major champions, and other favorites will give our fans and our partners plenty to cheer for,” said tournament director Pat McCabe.
Wyndham Clark, Jason Day, Brian Harman, Adam Scott, Gary Woodland, and Jason Dufner are six major champions who will also be in the field.
Other fan favorites include Michael Block, Luke Clanton, Joel Dahmen, Nick Dunlap, Tony Finau, Rickie Fowler, Max Homa, Billy Horschel, Sungjae Im, Zach Johnson, Matt Kuchar, Min Woo Lee, Keith Mitchell, Neal Shipley, Nick Taylor, Sahith Theegala, Camillo Villegas, and Brandt Snedeker, the last of whom will captain the United States team at the 2026 Presidents Cup.
The American Express is the second stop on the 2026 PGA TOUR calendar, set for Jan. 22-25 in La Quinta.
