Back in the 70’s with some chances for light rain

Today, temperatures remained near average in the upper 60's and peaking into the 70's for some. The normal high temperature for Palm Springs on this day is 68°. The high reached today, 70°.

Radar is showing rain to the west this evening with rain chances possible to reach the Coachella Valley this evening. Even as of the early afternoon, radar is picking up on more feedback than what is actually reaching the ground. There is an area of dry air that is actually causing some of the falling rain to evaporate before reaching the ground.

But, the region will still watch rain chances for the early evening with diminishing chances in the late evening hours. Light rain chances will carry on through Saturday and Sunday. This rain is expected to favor coastal slopes due to the lack of atmospheric lift.

An upper level low moves closer to the coast Saturday which will continue those slight rain chances. Northern California will see much more of an active weekend than us here in Southern California.

Temperatures will remain mild, a few degrees above seasonal.

Expect warmer temperatures and drier air to prevail into the following week as a ridge of high pressure builds.
