Gusty wind on the way for area mountains and passes

Wind speeds will be increasing through the evening and overnight hours. The strongest gusts will remain along mountain slopes and through passes but even the valley floor will experience gusts between 20-25 MPH through Tuesday night.

A High Wind Warning (yellow) has been issued for San Bernardino and Riverside county mountains, including the San Gorgonio Pass until 10:00 p.m. Tuesday.

Secure loose objects in your yard or your neighbor is likely to receive an unsuspecting holiday gift early.

This wind event is occurring because of the placement of a ridge of high pressure that will be moving east into Tuesday, creating an offshore flow.

Winds will relax for the middle of the week while temperatures stay cool. A return to the "norm" by Thursday.
