Slight chances for showers stick around through the weekend

THOUSAND PALMS, Calif. (KESQ) – It's been drier than New Year's, but we've still had quite a few clouds hanging in and around the Coachella Valley today. There's been a lot more activity off to our west as of Saturday afternoon. Locally, we've seen mostly cloudy skies through today, but some of that activity could be making its way east through the weekend.

If anything, we may see some light, scattered showers in the valley this evening. Most of that activity is off to our west through the night, though.

Expect drying conditions for most of the day on Sunday, especially before 1:00 p.m. Later in the afternoon and evening, though, that activity appears to continue eastward and intensify in spots like the San Gorgonio Pass. There's a chance some of that activity spills on over into the valley (especially in the west), so we're not ruling out more rain activity Sunday evening and into early Monday. Drier conditions should return as we make it past the weekend.

Highs tomorrow are likely in the upper 60s or low 70s, which is right where we should be this time of year. Expect similarly seasonal (if not a couple of degrees below the average, which is 70° on the dot) for next week.
