Tracking mild and breezy conditions this evening as most of the country freezes

It's another gorgeous afternoon and evening here in the Coachella Valley, with highs again feeling very moderate. The main difference from yesterday is the winds this afternoon. There are some slightly elevated winds this afternoon, mostly staying below 30 mph. This is a result of a low pressure system passing to our south. These winds are offshore, keeping us nice and dry. A Wind Advisory is in place for areas just to our west (including the San Gorgonio Pass), beginning at 7 PM tonight.

Across most of the nation east of the Rocky Mountains, a MASSIVE winter storm is wreaking havoc. Temperatures in some areas, like Wisconsin, have gotten below -30 degrees! Other areas are bracing for widespread travel concerns from ice and snow. We are unaffected by this system, thankfully.

Temperatures stay on the lower side this weekend, ahead of a warming trend next week as a result of building high pressure. Highs will climb to the upper 70s.
