Cool and breezy through the weekend

THOUSAND PALMS, Calif. (KESQ) — Relief from the Extreme Heat Warning is here! Temperatures have dipped below seasonal averages for the weekend, with a high today of 103 degrees.

The high-pressure system that dominated our weather patterns over the last few weeks has moved farther east, allowing an onshore trough to help cool temperatures.

Monsoonal moisture continues to linger, with dew points remaining slightly elevated above the 50-degree mark, impacting the efficiency of evaporative cooling in the Valley.

Winds are consistent, with gusts reaching up to 20 mph, and will pick up more in the afternoon after a brief dip.

These cooler temperatures won't stick around too long, with above-seasonal highs expected by Wednesday, when DSUSD and CVUSD start their 2026-27 school year.
