Cooler than usual this weekend; warming trend starts Sunday

THOUSAND PALMS, Calif. (KESQ) – It's been quite a pleasant day for this time of the year! This afternoon, temperatures have just barely climbed to the 100°F mark. It's feeling a bit humid outside as some moisture sticks around; plenty of clouds have formed over the mountains.

We're keeping an eye on some monsoonal activity, but most of it well north of the valley. A significant cell has developed north of Twentynine Palms. A few stray showers have been spotted in our local mountains, but it's looking pretty weak so far.

The clouds certainly look impressive right now! Rain chances continue to drop off on Sunday as we expect to dry out and warm up, but still expect some passing cloud cover overnight.

It looks less through the day tomorrow than Saturday. It may still feel a bit sticky as dew point temperatures stay north of 50°F, but it's an improvement.

Enjoy a cooler morning before temperatures begin to warm. We're looking at highs about 4 degrees hotter than Saturday.

The warming trend continues through the early part of the week. Highs should increase about 2 degrees per day. We stabilize near 110°F for the remainder of the week, which will feel pretty seasonal for mid-August.
