Man arrested for possession of meth and check fraud in Joshua Tree

Authorities in Joshua Tree arrested a man on Sunday morning after a warrant search yielded drugs and items related to fraud.

Shortly after 11 a.m. the Yucca Valley Multiple Enforcement Team and deputies executed a search warrant at a home on the 6500 block of Sunset Road in the City of Joshua Tree.

During the search of the residence, deputies found methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia, fraud checks, blank checks and mail not belonging to the home owners.

Inside the home, deputies found Rene Villegas and his girlfriend. Villegas was arrested for possession of methamphetamine for sales and possession of fraudulent checks.

He was booked into the Morongo Basin Jail in lieu of $50,000 bail.
