Disadvantaged business enterprise workshop at SunLine Transit Agency

Coachella Valley small business owners looking to apply as a Disadvantaged Business Enterprise or gain guidance on securing contracting opportunities with the county, local cities and other public
agencies can attend a free business workshop hosted by SunLine Transit Agency today.

The workshop, held from 9 a.m. to noon at SunLine’s Thousand Palms headquarters, will offer small business owners information on becoming a Disadvantaged Business Enterprise.

Such businesses, which are owned largely by socially or economically disadvantaged individuals, are eligible to apply for the Department of Transportation’s DBE program, which “ensures that qualified businesses have an equal opportunity to compete for, and participate in, the performance of all DOT-funded contracts and subcontracts.”

“We are making it a priority to educate businesses about bid selection and approval in an attempt to make the process transparent and give DBE’s an opportunity to complete,” SunLine CEO and General Manager Lauren Skiver said.
