Deputy assaulted in Thousand Palms
A Riverside County Sheriff’s deputy was assaulted in Thousand Palms Thursday night.
According to Deputy Mike Vasquez, public information officer for the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, the deputy was conducting an area check on Tonto Rd and Chiricahua Dr. While standing near a treeline at around 8:40 pm, somebody hit the deputy from behind and ran away.
The deputy suffering minor injuries, according to Vasquez.
No suspect is in custody, deputies are searching for a suspect.
