Desert Hot Springs celebrates first pride festival

The city of Desert Hot Springs celebrated their first-ever pride festival Saturday.

The festival took place all day at Cabot’s Pueblo Museum.

Local organizations, more than 30 vendors and live musicians set the stage.

Members of DiversityDHS said it’s been a long-time vision.

“We felt that there’s so many LGBT residents in Desert Hot Springs, that we had a gap in our society here,” DiversityDHS President Sam Messler said. “So, we formed a group and said let’s put on the very first Desert Hot Springs pride festival and show everyone that we’re proud. We got a lot of support from gay and non-gay folks of the city and around the Coachella Valley.”

Organizers like Messler are already talking about next years pride festival, possibly adding a second day of festivities.
