It rained… it snowed… now for a quick break
Thursday was a wet day in the desert with 0.71" being recorded at the Palm Springs International Airport and 0.88" at Jacqueline Cochran Airport in Thermal.
Those rainfall totals were a significant boost to an already above-normal yearly amount. Since the beginning of the year, Palm Springs has received 9.50". That's 3.99" above normal.
Snowfall reports were impressive as well from 25" in Wrightwood to 8" in Pioneertown. Snow levels dropped to 2,500'!
The storm system moved east this morning and our beloved sunshine made a big comeback with a high temperature of 63° -- 10° warmer than yesterday!
We'll stay warm, sunny, and dry through the weekend but the next winter storm looks to arrive Monday bringing more rain and snow to the desert.
A Winter Storm Watch has already been issued in anticipation of the storm's arrival on Monday. Snow is expected down to 2,500' yet again with heavy snowfall possible above 3,500'. Plan on difficult travel conditions in the San Bernardino and Riverside county mountains Monday and Tuesday morning.
