Pepperdine leads Prestige by one shot over Stanford after first round of play
One stoke separates Pepperdine and Stanford after one round of play at the Prestige, which is fitting given that one shot was the difference between the top players on Monday.
Waves senior and three-time All American William Mouw fired an impressive 65 in his first round, the best individual score of the day.
Playing in the same group as Mouw and Texas Tech's Ludvig Aberg, the No. 1 ranked amateur in the world, was Stanford superstar Michael Thorbjornsen.
Ranked as the No. 2 amateur in the world, Thorbjornsen shot 66, just one shot back of Mouw for the best in the opening round.
The Prestige continues Tuesday and goes through Wednesday, February 22 at the renowned Greg Norman Course at PGA WEST. This is the 21st consecutive year that The Prestige is being played at a PGA WEST managed course.
The founding Prestige co-host universities are UC Davis and Stanford University. This year's 24 team field includes 2021 NCAA D1 Champion Pepperdine University and past NCAA Champions Stanford, LSU, North Texas and Princeton, along with current Golfstat top ranked teams #3 Texas Tech, #6 Stanford, #14 Pepperdine, #23 Colorado State, #27 LSU, #30 Baylor, #34 Northwestern, #37 Liberty, #41 TCU, #43 Louisville and #48 Kansas.
In addition, the third annual Prestige Individual Tournament will take place for the first time at The Golf Club at Terra Lago’s North Course in Indio during the same dates. Terra Lago hosted the Skins Game from 1999-2002.
