Coachella soccer league reports series of vandalism acts, forcing game postponements

A soccer club in Coachella will have to wait a little longer to start their games after they were recently struck by vandals.

The "Coachella Youth Sports Association" soccer league, or CYSA, say someone burned their portable restrooms used during soccer matches.

This happened Tuesday night at the soccer fields in Coachella along Avenue 53.  They had to cancel their first day of play on Wednesday.

Community members have stepped up by offering portable restrooms that would otherwise cost $2,000 to replace.

CYSA president Alma Aceve says that the loss will hurt them financially.

“They’re not just hurting the league, they’re hurting kids, the young men who participate,” Aceve said.

She also says this isn't the first time the fields have been vandalized. The fields have been torn up by cars and soccer nets have been stolen.
