Muggy and mild second half of the week

It's a beautiful summer day here in the valley. Looking out from our Indian Wells cam, we can see lots of blue skies, allowing for our temperatures to climb into the triple digits. However, we can also see plenty of clouds in the sky. This is to be expected as a result of the elevated dew points we're feeling. We can also see a lot of 'poofy' convective clouds off into the mountains. This is a sign that some rain clouds may be forming over those areas.

An upper-level trough (area of low pressure) is sitting off the coast of southern California. This trough will pick up the remnants of Post Tropical Cyclone Eugene in the next 24 hours or so. This will allow for another surge of moisture for the valley and will keep our dew points elevated through Friday.

The remainder of this week and this weekend will continue to see temperatures a bit below the seasonal average. It will be muggy today through Friday and a gradual drying trend will begin starting Saturday. Going into next week, we are anticipating a warm up with temperatures at or above average.
