Trio Restaurant prepares 250 hot meals for Panorama Park residents and volunteers

While residents in Panorama Park continue their efforts to clean up and rebuild, Trio restaurant teamed up with volunteers from World Central Kitchen to help provide meals to 250 people in Cathedral City. 

"We're thinking of them and we're doing you know, at least what we can in our part, to help support them and hope that they can get recovered soon," said Trio Restaurant chef, Jeremy Loomis.

The owner of Trio’s restaurant, Tony Marchese and their chef, Jeremy Loomis are helping those most impacted by Hilary.

"We're local, it's right next door to us," said Marchese.

They’re working with the World Central Kitchen to cook and distribute 250 meals Sunday.

"If I was in the same shoes, you know, I would be hopeful and grateful for the help that someone else would be willing to support me," said Loomis.

People helping with the cleanup effort in Panorama Park will receive a homey Italian meal.

"We have a simple caprese salad, we're doing like a vegetarian pasta primavera and then our Trio signature brownie for like a little sweet bite at the end," said Loomis.

Volunteers with the World Central Kitchen have been helping valley residents in Cathedral City since the flooding first started.

"We finally found them in this tiny house, where they were very happy and clean. But they had nothing, they were all eating out of a pot of rice, and so the minute we got there, first thing we did was get them sandwiches from the Sandwich Spot, which they loved. And then from there, we just did a huge pantry drop for them," said Pragnya Alekal with World Central Kitchen.

World Central Kitchen has been working with several restaurants throughout the valley, "We've had many partners and local establishments help out in the first few days because it was hard even getting out of here, because roads were closed. So those those guys also helped out quite a bit, Sandwich Spot. And there was a local burrito shop, as well as Santorini gyro," said Alekal.

It’s been a community effort, from the clean up to donations like the ones from Trio.

"We were able to partner with some of our vendors you know, for some donation. So World Worldwide Produce out of LA and US Foods, both donated product that was going into the meals today so we're very grateful for their partnership," said Loomis.

The meals were prepared at the Mission Hills Country Club Kitchen and distributed in Panorama Park.
