No Coronavirus cases reported in Riverside County
No cases of Coronavirus have been reported in Riverside County, according to a county health official.
“It’s understandable Riverside County residents would be anxious with all the media reports about the growing number of cases, but I want the community to know everything is being done to prevent the illness from spreading here,” said Riverside County Public Health Officer Dr. Cameron Kaiser via news release. “At this time we have no evidence these individuals had contacts in Riverside County during the period they would be contagious.”
Cases have been confirmed elsewhere in the Southland, with one case confirmed each for Los Angeles County and Orange County.
According to Dr. Kaiser, the Department of Public Health is working in conjunction with schools, hospitals, and the emergency medical system to guarantee that the coordinated response will be fast and uniform if a case is confirmed.
“We will be ready if we get one,” he said.
The incubation period for the virus seems to be around two weeks, according to Kaiser.
On Tuesday, Kaiser will provide an update on the Coronavirus to the Riverside County Board of Supervisors at its weekly meeting.
Kaiser went on in the release to mention that the county is treating the Coronavirus with similar urgency to the SARS virus in 2002. SARS is also a coronavirus.
