Local defense company delays event due to Israel-Hamas war

The Moducan Corporation, which designs modular tactical buildings and defense systems, delayed their official design launch date set for November 2. due to the Israel-Hamas conflict.

For the past 7 years, the Moducan Corporation has been working on their designs meant to help U.S. military forces and people affected by natural disasters, public health emergencies and war.

"This system is sort of like a "Lego" system. You can really create any sort of building or system which will be mounted and have things mounted onto it. Some of the elements will make the system bomb proof or bullet proof," said Guy Assif, CEO of Moducan Corporation.

As the Israel-Hamas war rages on, the CEO of the company, Guy Assif, says they delayed the official launch event to focus on sending finished modular buildings to Israelis and Palestinians affected by the conflict.

The launch date was also delayed due to the fact that several members of the Moducan Corporation and those invited to the official unveiling of the product are Israelis tied to the conflict.

“The intention was to have an American unveiling of the product on November 2nd. The intent was to have guests come in from Israel, Canada, from different parts of the U.S. and from Europe. Of course, because of the recent conflict in the Middle East, we had to postpone it," said Assif.

Assif, a dual Israeli-Canadian citizen, says he'd rather not focus on taking a political stance, instead he wants to help Israelis and Palestinians whose lives have been uprooted by the war.

“I think the innocent people that are losing their homes, their lives are in danger, their kids lives are in danger, don't really care right now about my political view or anybody else's political view. They need to have the assistance of everybody who can come in and help to save as many lives as possible.”
