Two 14-year-olds arrested for pair of residential burglaries

An investigation into a pair of residential burglaries in La Quinta led to the arrest of two 14-year-old juveniles, the Riverside County Sheriff's Department announced on Thursday.

The first residential burglary was reported on January 7 at the 45200 block of Desert Fox.

La Quinta deputies were called to investigate a report of the burglary at 2:20 a.m. The suspects were captured on neighborhood surveillance cameras, according to RSO.

The second residential burglary occurred on January 9 at the 54400 block of Avenida Martinez. The La Quinta Special Enforcement Team was able to determine the suspects were the same as the ones from the Jan 7 burglary. Further investigation by the team led them to an apartment complex in the 81800 block of Palm Shadow.

RSO confirmed the team located the suspect vehicle at the complex.

The two suspects were identified during a surveillance operation. Authorities served a search warrant at the apartment complex and the juveniles were taken into custody.

RSO revealed that during the search warrant, authorities found stolen property and a loaded unregistered firearm.

The juveniles were booked into the Juvenile Hall in Indio.
