Man pleads not guilty in Coachella Valley burglaries
A 42-year-old man suspected of a commercial burglary in Palm Desert and other burglaries across the Coachella Valley pleaded not guilty today to felony charges.
Adrian Padilla of Indio was charged with one felony count each of grand theft over $950 and being a felon and narcotic addict in possession of a firearm, according to court records. He also faces one misdemeanor count of possessing controlled substances.
He pleaded not guilty to the charges Tuesday afternoon at the Larson Justice Center in Indio.
At 6 p.m. Thursday, sheriff's investigators served a search warrant in the 43000 block of Navajo Street in Indio, according to Sgt. Rovann Cleveland of the Riverside County Sheriff's Department. The warrant stemmed from the Palm Desert burglary, which occurred Nov. 11.
Padilla is also suspected of multiple burglaries in the cities of Rancho Mirage, La Quinta and Indio, Cleveland said.
"During the search warrant, a firearm, drug paraphernalia, and stolen property were recovered,'' Cleveland wrote in a statement.
Padilla was arrested and booked into the John J. Benoit Detention Center in Indio, where he remains held on a $100,000 bail bond, according to inmate records.
