Winds gradually weaken Sunday; dry air remains

While winds have calmed overnight on the valley floor, areas west of the valley will remain under Wind Advisories until 3 p.m. Sustained winds could reach between 20 to 30 mph with peak gusts at 40-55 mph near Riverside County and San Bernardino County mountains and the San Gorgonio Pass.

As winds weaken this afternoon, plenty of dry air will remain. The First Alert Weather Team is monitoring critical fire conditions due to the extremely dry weather. Stay with us for updates on the Elm Fire in Cabazon which has burned more than 60 acres.

A Red Flag Warning is in effect for Western Riverside County through 3 p.m. due to low relative humidity which could sink below 10%. Outdoor burning is not recommended at this time.

A gradual warming trend will begin Sunday and last through the work week. Temperatures will remain in the mid-70s as Santa Ana winds rebound near the middle of next week.
