WASHINGTON (AP) — President Joe Biden is hosting family members of some of the eight Americans believed still being held captive by Hamas in Gaza. The National Security Council said Biden planned to assure the families that the U.S. “won’t stop trying to get them home.” The meeting Wednesday is Biden’s first first in-person engagement with the families of the Americans unaccounted for after Hamas’ Oct. 7 attack on Israel. NSC spokesman John Kirby tells CNN U.S. officials are trying to get more information about the hostages. The White House said 13 family members of all eight participated in person, while three others were taking part in the meeting by phone. Biden has previously met with some of the family members virtually or by phone.
