GUATEMALA CITY (AP) — Guatemalan President-elect Bernardo Arévalo is waiting to be sworn into office. But Sunday’s ceremony has been delayed, with the inauguration tinged by wrangling and tensions, just like almost every day since his resounding Aug. 20 election victory. Congress is supposed to attend the inauguration as a special session of the legislature, but it is snarled in bitter infighting over who to recognize as part of the congressional delegation. Attorney General Consuelo Porras has tried every legal trick in the book to put Arévalo on trial or in jail before he takes office. And Arévalo’s Seed Movement party won’t have a majority in Congress or even have formal recognition there.
