DEARBORN, Mich. (AP) — President Joe Biden’s campaign manager traveled to Michigan and found some top activists unwilling to meet with her. The backlash to Julie Chavez Rodriguez’s Friday visit exposes a growing rift between the White House and groups otherwise loyal to Democratic causes in a critical swing state. Rodriguez led a group of top Biden advisers to the Dearborn area. The visit is part of her ongoing travels around the country, meeting with key constituent groups. But some Arab American leaders, who say the president has been too supportive of Israel in its war with Hamas in Gaza, refused to meet with the campaign team. And Rodriguez’s final meeting of the day was canceled when none of the people invited showed up.
