EAST LANSDOWNE, Pa. (AP) — Authorities say a police officer who was shot after responding to a house fire outside Philadelphia is recovering from lengthy surgery for an arm wound. Another officer, who was shot in the leg, was expected to be released from the hospital Thursday. A Delaware County spokeswoman identified them as 54-year-old Lansdowne Officer David Schiazza and 44-year-old East Lansdowne Police Officer John Meehan. Authorities are searching the charred remains of the suburban Philadelphia home a day after a shootout and fire that left the two police officers wounded. Officials say at least six people are still unaccounted for.
