PONTIAC, Mich. (AP) — Jurors have heard opening statements in the trial of the second parent accused of having responsibility for a Michigan school shooting. James Crumbley’s son killed four students at Oxford High School in November 2021. The father is charged with four counts of involuntary manslaughter. Prosecutors say James Crumbley failed to secure a gun at home and also failed to take action when school staff showed him a violent drawing made by Ethan on the day of the shooting. Defense attorney Mariell Lehman says James Crumbley didn’t know his son had access to the gun.
